Major Currency Pairs

Trading major currency pairs involves using these currency pairs as intermediaries for investments in the Forex market. The major currencies used in the Forex market include the Euro, Pound Sterling, Japanese Yen, Canadian Dollar, and Swiss Franc. Major currency pairs are typically divided into four pairs, which are GBP/USD, EUR/USD, USD/CHF, and USD/JPY.

Minor Currency Pairs

Minor currency pairs involve pairing currencies that are commonly traded but not the major currencies. These pairs are often paired with major currencies such as the Euro (EUR), Japanese Yen (JPY), or British Pound (GBP). However, they can also be pairings between other frequently traded currencies, like AUD/CHF (Australian Dollar/Swiss Franc) or NZD/CAD (New Zealand Dollar/Canadian Dollar).

Exotic Currency Pairs

Exotic currency pairs consist of currency pairs with relatively low liquidity (higher spreads than major FX pairs). Examples include EUR/TRY (Euro/Turkish Lira), USD/HKD (US Dollar/Hong Kong Dollar), JPY/NOK (Japanese Yen/Norwegian Krone), NZD/SGD (New Zealand Dollar/Singapore Dollar), GBP/ZAR (British Pound/South African Rand), AUD/MXN (Australian Dollar/Mexican Peso), and others.
